A branch of Samye Ling in Scottland, this is a very active centre of the Kargyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, under the guidance of Rob Nairn. Daily meditation & puja sessions as well as regular workshops and training courses are offered.

Following the Gelugpa tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, this Centre is under the guidance of Lama  Geshe Damcho Yonten who is based near Cardiff in Wales (UK). The Centre offers weekly meditation & chanting sessions and regular video shows. Geshe Pende, a Tibetan monk, is the resident teacher.

A beautiful Chinese temple of the Fo Kuang Shan tradition which is a Pure Land school of Buddhism.  There is a seminary for monks at which a three year training course is offered. Regular meditation retreats are presented.

This is the main Centre in Africa of the Kwan-Um school of Korean Zen. The resident teachers are Heila Downey (JDPSN) and Rodney Downey (Abbot). Regular Zen retreats are held.

Shambhala Meditation Group

This group is led by Jennifer Woodhull, mainly following the Shambhala Path as developed by Ven. Chögyam Trungpa.

Meeting Thursdays at the Observatory Community Centre, corner of Lower Main and Station Roads, 7 for 7:15 pm. Sitting for half an hour, followed by a short talk and finishing with a discussion over tea and biscuits.
 Jennifer also gives induvidual meditation instruction.

Vipassana Association of South Africa

The technique of Vipassana Meditation is taught at ten-day residential courses during which participants learn the basics of the method, and practice sufficiently to experience its beneficial results.
There are no charges for the courses - not even to cover the cost of food and accommodation. All expenses are met by donations from people who, having completed a course and experienced the benefits of Vipassana, wish to give others the opportunity to also benefit.
